"I draw inspiration from the beauty in the unexpected; the fragile and delicate qualities evident in the commonly overlooked".
Rachel Has just completed her Honors Degree in Design in Textiles from GMIT, Galway, Ireland. For her final year Rachel specialized in Printed Textiles. Her project featured strong representation of Texture and Color and encompassed an element of floral motif. Rachel designed a range of home furnishings including a range of cushions, wall hangings, lampshades, wallpaper and a range of painted and screen printed studies.
Taking an old derelict cottage as her visual source, Rachel recreated the beauty evident within the 'mundane' features of its remains. layers of torn wallpaper and peeling paint on the walls portrayed a textured surface which would not normally appeal to the common eye, However Rachel drew on these features and discovered how she could represent a contemporary abstract view of a typical interior style.
